Mornington Peninsula Wine Tour

Mornington Peninsula is a special place just under an hour, South East of Melbourne

Vineyards were first planted in the 1970’s with the region providing perfect growing conditions for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, today the maritime region on the Mornington Peninsula boasts over 200 small scale vineyards and over 50 cellar doors.

The Mornington Peninsula is a popular weekend getaway and a favourite destination for locals attracted to the abundance of local fruit and vegetable producers, and the high quality restaurants, bistros, cafes.

You will also enjoy the stunning scenery that this region is famous for, studded with golf courses, horse studs, cherry tress, strawberry fields, beaches and wineries with well manicured gardens and world class sculpture displays.

We have selected the very best dining experience for you to stop for lunch and 3 exceptional wine tasting events (includes one at your lunch venue) for your Wine Tour Mornington Peninsula.

Lunch Venue Rare Hare on weekdays or Merrick’s General Wine Store

Premium Wine Tasting in Barrel Room at Quealy Winemakers Kathleen Quealy is a pioneer winemaker on the Mornington Peninsula. Quealy Winery Cellar Door takes you right into the heart of the winery, tasting amidst the barrels and Tuscan terracotta amphora. Kathleen and Kevin first arrived on the Mornington Peninsula in 1988 and have spent the subsequent years cultivating a reputation for single vineyard expressions of regional heroes Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, sourced from some of the oldest and finest sites on the Peninsula.

Quealy’s experience of Italian wine-making tradition has inspired Secco Splendido, Pobblebonk, Pinot Grigio and little-grown Friulano variety. Open daily, come and taste with our experienced team including resident cellar paw, Ninja.

The Quealy family is an icon in the Australian wine world and the wine here tells you why very quickly. The cellar door at Quealy is just 70km from Melbourne in the township of Balnarring. The all timber room is lined with tens of their bottles with standing and tasting room for groups or just a pair. Tom, the son of owner Kathleen Quealy, runs this winery and the many vineyards attached including Kerri Greens. Pinot Noir is King at Quealy with several of different clones and sites. The Campbell & Christine is perfectly balanced, Seventeen Rows is their number one, and Rageous is a sangiovese-pinot noir-shiraz blend that is a cellar door favourite with an interesting story attached. Of course, there are whites too, with a fantastic sparkling (Secco Splendido) and Pinot Grigio.

“The day we had with Epicurean was one of the very best we had while visiting Melbourne. It was relaxing from the minute we were picked up. We were able to spend a lots of time at a few wineries, hearing stories and tasting fabulous food from the region. The wine was exceptional. Highly recommend.”
