The professionally equipped kitchen includes an intimate space with a large dining table where you can sit together and enjoy a fun and interactive 3 hours with family, friends or workmates.

Learning to make dumplings is a true culinary escapade beginning with making the perfect dough then learning how to best shape dumplings and create fillings of pork, chicken, beef or vegetarian dumplings.

Your host and instructor on the day is an expert chef who loves presenting cooking classes and sharing his love for this popular dish.

After the fun preparation you can sit down and enjoy your creations with a glass of Helen and Joey Estate wine.

Dumpling Class Menu and Ingredients

Dumplings are really easy and fun to make with special instruction given to the trickiest part of folsing them to make them look professional. Here are some of the ingredients you will be using on the day.

  • Spices – Chilli, Spring onion, Shallots, Ginger, Chinese Chives
  • Seasoning and Sauce – Soy Sauce, Red Vinegar, Hoisin, Fish Sauce, Chilli Oil, Rice Wine
  • Vegetables – Wongbok, Mushroom, Water Chestnuts
  • Vegetarian – Carrot, Peas, Carrot, Sweet Corn, Taro or Potato, Water Chestnuts
  • Meats – Pork, Chicken, Beef
  • Seafood – Fish and/or Prawn for non-meat eater *
  • Dumpling Skins – made from flour

It also follows deeply seeded traditions of welcoming people to each other’s home to share the love of Greek food.

Family Greek Cooking Class

Greek Cooking Classes embrace this tradition with authentic recipes and nourishing simplicity with the experience of cooking and sharing food. This private cooking class welcomes you to the professional cooking space and home of Hellenic Odyssey, with Greek home cook and founder Kelly Michelakis, who will share her proud heritage and passion for Greek food.

In this cooking class you will explore the contemporary greek flavours with your friends and family as a private group, combining the finest seasonal ingredients with traditional techniques taught by Kelly.  You will learn about the ingredients, cooking techniques and of course, the wonderful health benefits the Mediterranean diet is so famous for!

The menu that you will cook and eat varies, depending on the season but can include

A dip such as Fava (yellow spilt pea), Patzarosalata (beetroot and walnut dip), Melitzanosalata (eggplant dip), feta psiti (baked feta dip)

An entree/veg side such as Dakos (barley rusk with tomato and cheese), Maroulosalata (lettuce & dill salad), Fasolakia (green beans), Kolokithokeftedes (zucchini fritters)

Main such as Keftedes(beef mince patties) or chicken & capsicum skewers

Dessert amygdalota (almond macarons), melomakarona (honey biscuits), moustokouloura (grape molasses biscuits)

You will cook an entree, main and a dessert alongside Kelly, mastering classic dishes that delight Greek food enthusiasts the world over. After the fun and interactive cooking class you can sit down together and enjoy each others company and the delicious greek feast you have created.

What a wonderful way to celebrate your return to food and wine (outside your own front door!) but with a Private Family Cooking Class with Lunch, (or dinner) in a beautiful inner city home.

This is a perfect food and wine experience for your family to enjoy in a friendly and warm setting in Prahran.

Start your Family or Couple event with a glass of bubbles and spend the next 90 minutes learning the basics of Italian Cooking and how to prepare a 3 course Italian meal from scratch.

After you prepare this delicious Italian feast with a fun and interactive cooking class you will then be seated at a beautifully set table to enjoy the good, food, wine and company of your family or small group of friends.

The menu will be introduced with a brief description of the recipes, techniques & ingredients used in the class. The ingredients will be laid out ready &

guests will have plenty of opportunity in the creation of the menu consisting of an entrée, a main dish, 2 side dishes & a dessert.  Once the work is done, it is time to relax on our beautiful terrace overlooking the sea or lounge room, fireside.

Enjoy a glass of bubbles & a savoury plate followed by the sit down dinner party style lunch or dinner.

The wine served with lunch is from award winning Montalto Estate, a beautiful winery we visit nestled in Mornington Peninsula, just 90 minutes south of Melbourne. The region is renowned for its unique maritime climate that produces exceptional cool climate wines, most notably Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Their focus is to create wines of exemplary quality and character that reflect the region and the vintage.

Private Family Cooking Class with Lunch

The Montalto Estate Chardonnay 2018 (gold medal award & 95 points) is multi layered & crafted from the best parcels of fruit from the Montalto family vineyards across the Peninsula.

The Montalto Pennon Hill Pinot Noir 2018 (gold medal award) showcases all the qualities that the Mornington Peninsula is best known for – perfume, purity, varietal expression and brightness.

There will be wine notes for the two wines served to discuss during the event.

Any dietary requirements or specific food allergy can met by asking all guests to advise at the time of booking.
